Jesus reminds us today of the need to not only love our family members, friends or those who also love us. He puts before us the challenging yet rewarding call to love our enemies. “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.”
Jesus is calling on us to go beyond society’s expectations. The society wants us to love those who love us and hate those who hate us. This is not how a good Christian should behave.
He promises a great reward to those who live a life of spreading love across friend and foe alike calling them ‘sons and daughters of the Most High’, as it reflects God’s kindness towards His enemies. Jesus emphasizes that we are called to be merciful as He is, and that God is kind to the unmerciful and ungrateful. This call to love is a testament to the importance of being merciful in our interactions with others.
May God grant us the grace to be loving and merciful to everyone we come across.
Love becomes true love when it reaches out to those you think as a person do not deserve your love. We do not deserve the love of Christ yet he came down to for our sins.
You could not have said it any better. 🙏🙏🙏
Yet he came down to die for our sins.
Surely! Such immense love ❤️.
